First Steps

Writing a post

myTextPost is for text posts - and only for text posts!

You can use it like a word processor with simple formatting like bold or italic. If you like you can also use HTML or even Markdown. And if needed, you can just mix them all in one text.

The 'Formatting Menu' helps you to faster format (style) your articles - or in case you are not that firm with HTML formatting.

Hint: The current text will be automatically saved - thus you can even quit the App to later continue to write.

Opening existing documents

myTextPost support opening of already existing documents, thus you can pre-write your awesome articles in other Apps - like myTexts pro for example.

Supported file formats: Simple Text, Rich Text, HTML, Markdown and myTexts

Hint: Of course opening existing documents will 'replace' any text you may are already working on…

Editing Post Settings

For every post you are free to individually apply custom settings like:

  • Custom URL
  • Send to Twitter (please mind your global Twitter settings)
  • State like: Publish Now, Publish On…, Add to Queue or Save as Draft
  • Hint: In this 'Settings Sheet' you also elect the current account.

Please note that some settings (like the account) are no longer available once a post is already published!

    Previewing current text

Often it makes much sense to preview the text one is currently working on before making it available for all on the internet. You can simply do that at any time by clicking the 'Preview' button…

Creating (Publishing) a Post on Tumblr

Once you're happy with your text/article you can simply publish it by clicking the 'Create' button and that's it.

Hint: In the Preferences you can choose to automatically 'web-preview' the published article and/or if the current post will automatically be trashed, so you can just write a new post or if the text will stay in 'Update' mode…

    Updating the currently published post

In case you did not applied in the Preferences that current posts are automatically 'trashed' after publication - you are free to update the current text at any time by simply clicking the 'Update' button…

Hint: Please keep in mind that updates may take some time until the show up on the 'real' website due to the Tumblr server caching.

    Trashing the current post

The moment you want tow rite a new post and in case you did not applied in the Preferences that current posts are automatically 'trashed' after publication - you can trash the current post (or in other words: create a new one) by simply clicking the 'Trash' button…

Hint: Of course you can later edit already published posts by using the Archive.
