Once again - unfortunately the Tumblr API does not allow to simply insert/upload photos into a text post for third party Apps – but don’t worry. TextsPost supports CloudApp, FTP or simply insert a photo URL. Hopefully Tumblr will change this in the future.
You can choose in the Preferences wether you want to use CloudApp or a FTP server to insert/upload photos and even without both you can insert photos by using the 'Format Menu' and directly link to an image URL.
I finally found a solution to do so without using an own FTP server or Cloud App. For those who don't already worked with this App and don't know it yet - the Tumblr API does not allow third party applications to insert/upload images in a non-photo post. With my new solution all your photos are now directly hosted on the Tumblr Amazon servers - but the action itself now takes a little bit longer to perform - but I guess, that's worth it…
You can insert an photo by simply dragging it onto the desired location in your text or by clicking the 'Photo' button…
Hint: myTextPost natively supports many image formats - even icons - but for the web they will of course be converted.
For every photo (image) you want to insert/upload you are free to choose between the (from Tumblr) supported sizes and which file format it is (or you want it to be converted to, which myTextPost does for you).
Hint: some of us want/need to embed (wrap) the photo code in a paragraph. Please keep in mind that some Tumblr themes do not like this and will 'eat' your text, thus you should know what you are doing!
myTextPost stores already used photos for later use. You can access them by simply clicking the 'Recent Photos' button…
Hint: This recent photos browser supports QuickLook and deleting and adding by using the system-wide default short cuts for that tasks and by drag-and-drop.
