Limitations

I always try to make my Apps as clean and simple (easy to use) as possible and to keep the balance between features that are necessary to built in and to trash possible features that may look good on a feature sheet - but will only clutter the App.

And one of my main goals also always is, to study our daily tasks - in this case the way we blog (write articles) and to simplify that tasks.

For example you can select an already published post in the Archive and its context menu will offer you the possibility to copy its URL - thus you can link to your own post in a new text.

Or myTextPost will remember the settings for photos or Twitter etc.

And the 'Tags' field will offer you auto-completions.

If you want myTextPost can also automatically open the 'Web Preview' the moment a post has been successfully published.

But - there is always a but - isn't it? But of course the App itself as well as Tumblr has its limitations.

We are not allowed to insert photos for text posts when not using the web-interface. The Tumblr API only allows to fetch max. 50 already published posts/drafts. The Tumblr API does not allow to fetch all used tags.

As you may already have discovered by using Tumblr - the API will 'reformat' posts - change line breaks for example. This also effects posts published with third-party Apps like this one. I already try to avoid this by 'sending' HTML code the Tumblr API does not need to 'reformat' - does not work always.

That's also a problem when fetching and editing already published posts and drafts.

Speaking of published posts and drafts - I know - for people not firm with HTML the current solution of myTextPost is not entirely satisfying. I am working on that…
