IMPORTANT!
MYMAILBOY CAN ONLY SEARCH FOR NEW UNREAD MESSAGES AS LONG AS MAIL.APP AND ITSELF IS RUNNING (OPEN).
myMailBoy is designed to run for days or weeks in the background without using much system resources when idle. Of course Mail.app needs some resources for some seconds when myMailBoy 'asks' for new unread messages. Apple is also looking into this to hopefully reduce this use of resources in the future.
What myMailBoy does (can do)
- It periodically 'asks' Mail.app for new unread messages in the inbox
- It can display a text preview of those messages
- Those messages can be opened in Mail.app
- Those messages can be marked as read
- Those messages can be deleted or marked as junk mail
What myMailBoy does not (can not do)
- It does not fetch messages on a server (means it is dependent on Mail.app)
- Mail.app does not automatically send a notification when new messages arrive
- It does not search for unread messages in sub- or smart folders
- It does not work with webmail services running in Safari
- It does not work with other mail applications like Thunderbird
